20 Years of Achievement

At his birth, Netanel’s parents were given a very grim outlook for his future. They understood his only chance was an intensive paramedical therapy program. One year later, and two years after the Therapies at Home program was established, Netanel was the 100th child to be accepted to the program. Now at age 17, and still doing physical therapy, he holds the title of the longest served beneficiary. Together with his family, we are amazed and proud of what he has achieved.

This timeline highlights Netanel’s development alongside that of the Malki Foundation

2005 – 1 Year Old

Netanel begins a program of life-long paramedical therapies. He is the 100th child accepted into Malki Foundation’s Therapies at Home program.

OCTOBER 2011

“Therapists on Wheels” sends paramedical therapists to the homes of children living in Israel’s peripheral communities. Therapists have travelled 200,000km – the equivalent of circling Earth 5 times.

2011 – 7 Years Old

With a delay of only a year, Netanel starts grade 1, fully integrated in a regular class. He now uses crutches to support walking.

September 2015

New Logo and Visual Language developed to better represent the organization’s image.

January 2022

Expect to proudly accept the 1,000th child in the therapies programs.

Continuity of Services

After a few months of relative relief, COVID-19 is once again high on the list of concerns in Israel. However, the families we serve have faced a uniquely trying isolation this past year – on top of the ongoing challenges they already face raising a child with complex disabilities.
Children with disabilities are high-risk and many are still too young to be vaccinated. So precautions must be carefully adhered to and in some cases, children are still isolated at home. This means that our beneficiaries have relied on our help more than ever.
Despite the challenges, we have managed to operate throughout the pandemic. We have not stopped delivering crucial support to our families during these tough times and we remain focused on our chief goal: empowering the families we serve, helping them in concrete ways to help themselves and the child who depends on them.
As such, when the first lockdown occurred, our staff conducted individual check-ins with families to understand their needs and offer emotional and practical support. Once permitted, we returned to face-to-face therapy (utilizing PPE) alongside sessions held online where appropriate. Our priority is to ensure the children we work with keep progressing in the safest possible conditions.
Many things in our world have changed this past year and yet some things never change – Corona or no Corona, children with disabilities need care and support regardless of what is going on around them.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM OUR PARENT SURVEY

Earlier this year, we surveyed the parents of the children on our therapy programs. The aim was to learn about how the services we provide help the children, the reasons for turning to the Malki Foundation for help and general feedback on our services.
The results are extremely encouraging. An overwhelming majority of parents responded and expressed their satisfaction. A recurring theme was that the Malki Foundation is different from other providers because our staff are caring and accessible and the help we provide is effective.
Other highlights of the survey include:
80% turned to us because their HMO (kupat cholim) did not cover their child’s needs.
90% said their child’s development greatly improved with our help.
One parent shared that “Prior to working with the Malki Foundation therapist, the only thing our child could do on her own was raise her head and she could hardly use her hands. Now she almost walks, stands, crawls, uses her hands, and rides her toy horse — all thanks to the wonderful therapist.”
100% of Therapists on Wheels recipients were incredibly satisfied with the help received and praised the professionalism and kindness of our therapists.
In the words of one parent “Our therapist is amazing, she gives us hope and provides clear and well informed guidance”

A majority of parents said that without the help from the Malki Foundation, their child would have to go without therapies or they would have to give up on something else in order to pay for the therapies.
We are very proud of these results and the positive impact our work has on the children and families your support makes possible.

20th Anniversary Mosaic Project

The Mosaic Art Charity Project is the first in a series of special initiatives in honor of the Malki Foundation 20th anniversary. It will bring together communities and children from all over the globe spanning Israel, United Kingdom, America and Australia.
This cultural awareness campaign will provide children the opportunity to create a mosaic tile showcasing how they view ‘chesed/acts of kindness’. Each child overseas will be twinned with a child with severe disabilities supported by the Malki Foundation, and each will create a tile. All the tiles will be combined and professionally produced to create one large mosaic art piece.
The final piece will be unveiled and auctioned on Thursday 2nd December 2021, to coincide with the International Day of Disability, at a hybrid worldwide event, where you can join us over Zoom, or in person. Save the date for this fabulous Mosaic Art Charity Project.
All proceeds from this special project will provide paramedical therapies for children with disabilities.
