Every year, the graduating
group at the Ramot (Jerusalem) branch of the Israeli youth
organization EZRA arranges a charity bazaar in memory of Malki Roth
and her friend Michal Raziel, and in support of Keren Malki.
Under the name "Latet
K'she'ata Ohev" (Hebrew for "To give out of love"), this upbeat
charity event attracts families from all over Jerusalem, and
especially from the Ramot neighborhood where many personally knew
the girls and their legacy.
The bazaar is always fun,
and in its own special way, very touching. Both Michal and Malki
grew up in EZRA, moving through its ranks, both becoming group
leaders at the age of fifteen.
This year's event - the
eighth - will take place at the usual location - the playground
located next to the EZRA facility in Ramot Alef, Corner Harry Truman
and Abba Hillel Streets Jerusalem. It is set for the day after Tisha B'Av,
Wednesday 21st July 2010, starting at 4:00pm and continuing into the
night.
Organized by an especially
enthusiastic committee of EZRA members, this year headed by Odeya
and Omer, the event is being promoted by a video created by the
young organizers. Though narrated in Hebrew, the 9-minute video has
some English subtitles. It includes graphic footage from Israel TV's
Channel Two original news reports of the
massacre at the Sbarro
restaurant in Jerusalem which took the lives of both girls, along
with many others.
The video also includes scenes from previous
years' EZRA bazaars and a passionate call to come and give support.
